Hello, my name is Jose Herrera, and I am your new local Compass Insurance agent here in Arcola!

I grew up in Arcola and graduated from here back in 2016. That was the same year our football team won the state championship! What a great time to be a student at Arcola High School. I participated in Track and field but mainly focused my spare time practicing boxing while in high school. I made a lot of good friends at the boxing gym I went to in Champaign and try to practice it still when I have a chance. In high school, I worked at our local Dairy Queen and worked at Key Auto Care detailing vehicles.

After high school, I left Arcola for some time and continued my education at Parkland College. My girlfriend, who is now my fiancé, and I got our first apartment together while attending Parkland and both got part-time jobs working for First Mid Bank & Trust. I also worked part-time at FedEx Ground as a package handler and won package handler of the month shortly after starting there. After receiving the job in banking, it sparked my interest in getting into the finance world. I pursued that full-time and eventually worked my way up to being a member service representative for the University of Illinois Community Credit Union. During my time in finance, I assisted with the fundamentals of banking, the understanding of how credit works, loan processes, debt consolidation, and financial coaching.

Sierra and I lived in the Champaign area for several years with our dog Marley. We then shifted our focus to coming back home to Arcola after finding out we were expecting an addition to our little family. Luca Jose Herrera was born on July 23rd, 2022. After his arrival, we purchased our first house together and officially moved back to Arcola. I could not think of anything better than to have our son grow up surrounded by all our friends and family.

After moving back to Arcola, Sierra and I both wanted to work closer to home and Luca. Sierra accepted an offer from First Bank, serving as their Assistant Vice President Banking Center Manager at their Tuscola branch since July. I accepted the offer to serve our community as an agent here with Lindenmeyer Insurance Agency, a division of Compass Insurance, and have been doing nothing but studying insurance since July! I am very grateful to be in this position to help serve our community and protect your family with the right coverage. I have a passion for helping people with their financial needs and cannot wait to shift that passion into helping you with your insurance needs. I understand how important it is to build your credit and wealth and know now just how important it is to protect what you have built with insurance.

\In our free time we love to spend time with our friends and family by hosting cookouts and game nights. We also love to go boating at Lake Shelbyville during the summer months and look forward to the football season to cheer on our Fighting Illini and Chicago Bears!
