OUR STORY

We are proud of our agency roots and growth over the past 65+ years

1952

Eldon Steffen gradually evolved from a part-time position at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company to receive his securities license enabling him to sell as a full-service agent while working from an office located in his home in Cissna Park, IL.

1988

Eldon hired his nephew, Rod Steffen, who after graduating from the University of Illinois had become a licensed agent with a CFP designation.

1994

Eldon sold the agency to Rod Steffen and Greg Steffen, Eldon’s youngest son. The agency was renamed The Steffen Agency, Ltd.

1995

The agency moved from Eldon’s home to 133 West Garfield Avenue in Cissna Park

1999

Purchased the Lee Agency in Paxton

2001

Purchased the insurance business owned by the Busey Bank in LeRoy which included offices in LeRoy, Melvin, and Saybrook

2003

Consolidated the Melvin and Saybrook offices and opened a new office in Gibson City.

2004

Purchased Mitchell Insurance Agency and moved the Gibson City office to its current location.

2007

Purchased the Lyle Carstens Insurance Agency in Peotone

2008

Opened a new office on the east side of Bloomington

2009

Purchased the Metz Stoller Agency in Fairbury/Forrest

2010

The year we renamed our agency to Compass Insurance Partners.

2016

Dayton Kilgus joined the ownership team

2017

Purchased the Roger Schuldt Agency in Watseka

2018

Purchased the Payne Insurance Agency in Lexington

2018

Purchased the Fincham Agency in Colfax

2020

Joey Samuelson joined the ownership team

2020

Purchased the Lindenmeyer Insurance Agency in Arcola

2024

Purchased the Arie Insurance Agency in Watseka
