Hello, my name is Trey Bazzell, and I joined Compass Insurance in May 2026 as an agent in the Fairbury office.
I was born and raised right here in Fairbury, and I could not be more grateful for the life this community has given me. Being able to serve the people and families I grew up around is something I do not take for granted.
Growing up, my parents, Darin and Lynette Bazzell, shaped a lot of who I am. My mom was a teacher in the school district, and my dad is a local business owner and semi-retired coach of Prairie Central basketball. Sports were at the center of our household, and my younger brother Dylan and I were involved in just about every sport we could find growing up. We were fortunate to have our dad coach us in many of those sports along the way, including serving as our head coach for high school basketball. As I got older, basketball became my sport, and I finished my senior season at Prairie Central as the program’s all-time leading scorer in men’s basketball. I then went on to play at Illinois Wesleyan University, where I also earned a bachelor’s degree in finance.
While I was in college, my brother Dylan unexpectedly passed away. He loved Fairbury and the people in it, and that has never left me. Being able to live and work in the community he cared about means a great deal to me.
After college, I spent one year as a Financial Analyst at State Farm, but when the opportunity arose to join the Compass team, I jumped at it. The idea of being involved in the community, getting to know people, and helping protect their families and businesses sounded like a career worth pursuing.
I married my wife, Jenni (Slagel), in July 2026, capping off quite a stretch that included buying a house, starting a new job, and getting married all within five months. We are regular attendees of First Baptist Church and proud to call Fairbury home. Outside of work, I enjoy a round of golf, and the two of us love to travel, catch live sports and concerts, and find a good movie.
